Give a kid a book!
Non-profit organizations Books for Africa and Hand in Health have teamed up to create libraries in and around the schools and skills centre of Njau, Gambia. More than 20,000 books have been collected, and the organization leaders are hopeful that more books will be donated before the container ships in late 2011.

The warehouse is located in the old Stroh's Brewery complex that is just north of I-94, just east of downtown St. Paul.

From the west, Take the 7th Street Exit (Exit 242C) off I-94 and turn left at 7th Street. Turn left on Payne Avenue. Turn right on Minnehaha Avenue East. Turn left at Stroh Lane into the warehouse complex. The Books For Africa sign is on the dock level of the building. Go into the fenced area and park by the sign.
From the east, Take the Mounds Boulevard Exit (Exit 243) off I-94 and merge right onto Mounds Boulevard. Turn left on 7th Street. Go one block and turn right on Payne Avenue. Turn right on Minnehaha Avenue East. Turn left at Stroh Lane into the warehouse complex. The Books For Africa sign is on the dock level of the building. Go into the fenced area and park by the sign.
*** Please print out a sign saying "Hand in Health" and tape to all books dropped off at the warehouse so they are stacked with our containers. Also, please e-mail the project director at email@example.com with the number of books donated so we can keep a running tally!
Warehouse Hours: Every Wednesday from 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. at the St. Paul warehouse
Every Monday to Thursday from 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. at the Atlanta warehouse
The first and third Saturdays of every month from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
Book Donation Requirements:
If you mail books, please do not send boxes that weight more than 50 pounds and do not include any packing materials such as newspaper, plastic wrap and peanuts. Thank you!
Books For Africa accepts:
15 years old or newer popular fiction and nonfiction reading books (soft and hard cover).
1995 or newer publish date primary, secondary, and college textbooks (soft and hard cover).
1995 or newer reference books such as encyclopedias and dictionaries.
1995 or newer publish date medical, nursing, IT, and law books.
Bibles are sent when requested by African recipients.
School/office supplies-paper, pencils, pens, wall charts, maps, etc.
**Acceptable books are gently used and relevant to an African reader.
Books For Africa does NOT accept:
Magazines or journals or any kind.
Home decorating, wedding, or cookbooks.
Ethnocentric books, such as the biography of Abraham Lincoln or the history of Ohio.
Foreign language books except for French books. French novels and dictionaries are welcome.
American history or civics.
Music books for K-12.
